Detailer & Project Coordinator, Metal Shop

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Detailer & Project Coordinator role is responsible for creating detailing shop drawings for sheet metal fabrication, programming the laser cutter and turret, and overseeing the fabrication process to ensure quality and accurate adherence to drawing specifications.

• Working with shop fabricators, design department and Project Manager’s to create detailed shop drawings in SolidWorks.
• Programming the laser cutter and turret machines.
• Managing and updating product details and progress.
• Analyzing and reviewing drawings to determine scope of work, generate estimates and pricing, work orders, coordinating production scheduling and project planning using Visual ERP system.
• Sourcing new suppliers and purchasing required materials and inventory management.
• Working with production team through prototype and quality processes.
• Ensuring finished products are accurate and complete to quality and specifications.
• Providing technical support where required.
• Participating in Continuous Improvement activities to reduce costs, improve processes and increase throughput.
• Overseeing machine maintenance and ability to troubleshoot mechanical and PLC issues.
• Coordinating and planning supplier and vendor services.
• Working in compliance with all safety procedures.

• Minimum 3 years’ design experience in a metal fabrication environment with a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study
• Excellent SolidWorks skills
• Working knowledge of laser, turret punch press, press brake and welding fabrication techniques
• Sound knowledge of metal fabrication processes, materials, equipment and tooling
• Ability to estimate, analyze technical drawings and scope of work
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively to interact across all levels of the organization
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
